Rolex vintage restoration and CPO authentication face allegations over altered watches
Jose Pereztroika alleges Rolex restored altered vintage watches and offered watches with fake dials through its Certified Pre-Owned program. He cites Daytona Ref. 6240, case 1439142, sold as lot 86 at Sotheby’s Geneva on May 11, 2025, for CHF 241,300 including premium, disputing the manufacturing year recorded in its Rolex restoration booklet.
If substantiated, these allegations could undermine confidence in manufacturer-backed restoration and authentication, which influence vintage-watch valuations.
