Gérald Genta’s early watch designs include the 1954 Universal Genève Polerouter, a 34.5mm model commissioned to celebrate SAS polar flights, and the 1964 Omega Constellation C-Shape, notably references 168.017 and 168.019. His 1966 Universal Genève Shadow designs pursued ultra-thin construction using micro-rotor movements.
Universal Genève
Universal Genève began as Universal Watch in Le Locle in 1894, founded by Numa Descombes and Ulysse Perret. Its early milestones included a patent for a 24-hour jumping-hour watch, a Geneva boutique in 1919 and the automatic Auto Rem calibre in 1925. Breitling’s acquisition provides the backdrop to this historical retrospective.
